Thirteen months ago, 49ers backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick took a knee during the national anthem to protest police brutality against black people. When other NFL players started to join him taking a knee during the national anthem, President Trump stated this act was not a protest but was an act of disrespect.  Vice President Pence boycotted a game last weekend when players were kneeling, and Trump has threatened to take unspecified action against the NFL if they don’t change their policies and required players to stand during the anthem, which is something the NFL is now considering doing.
