It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and people are raving about current and upcoming activities to check out in our local area. Across Connecticut, holiday fanatics are lining up, buying tickets, and getting ready to indulge throughout the month of December. I compiled a list of the top five must-sees in no particular order:

 

WHAT: Santa’s Trolley Winter Wonderland; “Take a ride into the past at The Shore Line Trolley Museum and have your children visit with Santa! Inspect our antique trolleys decorated for the holidays. Enjoy a complimentary cookie and hot chocolate. Check out our model train layout. Bring the whole family and the camera! All children receive a small gift from Santa. You don’t want to miss getting a picture of your little ones with Santa.”

WHEN: Now through December 17th

WHERE: Shoreline Trolley Museum in East Haven

COST: Tickets are $10 per person

 

WHAT: Free Events at the Shops at Yale (shopping, dining, laser light shows, ice carving competitions and demonstrations, downtown horse and carriage rides, visits with Santa, etc.)

WHEN: Now through December 24th

WHERE: Downtown New Haven 

COST: FREE

 

WHAT: Festival of Silver Lights

WHEN: Now through January 1st
WHERE: Hubbard Park in Meriden
COST: N/A

 

WHAT: Holiday Lights at Lake Compounce; “The park will be covered in hundreds of thousands of lights, with light shows every half hour. New for 2017 is dinner with Santa.”

WHEN: Weekends now through December 30th

WHERE: Lake Compounce at Bristol

COST: $15.99 for adults, and $11.99 for children 4 to 10 and seniors; FREE with a 2017 or 2018 diamond or platinum season pass

 

WHAT: The HSO Pops: Holiday Cirque Spectacular

WHEN: December 16th
WHERE: The Bushnell in Hartford

COST: Depends on tickets, go online to check it out
