Q: So my first question is, why did you decide to take journalism?
A: I decided to take journalism because I really want to know how I can change the world and how I can make a difference. I also want to make sure that the sources I read are accurate. I can stay aware of what’s going on in my community, around the country, and around the world. Journalism inspires me to do that.
Q: What motivates you to write?
A: I always like to write when I’m feeling overwhelmed by something. It kind of lets me use my creativity. I can write short stories or I can write poems.
Q: Who is one of your biggest influences, whether in writing or in general?
A: Definitely my parents. They’ve really helped me out ever since I learned to write. I’ve always appreciated the art of writing and being creative, so I’d say my parents are my biggest influencers.
Q: And the most important question is, if a song was to play every time you walked into a room, what would it be?
A: Oh man, I’d say Happy by Pharrell Williams because that really defines who I am. I’m someone who is energetic, who shows appreciation for things, so I think that song defines or at least connects with who I am.
