Michael Travers, 17, understands that hard work is necessary for students to reach their dreams. He is not just your average student that will let his time in high school blow by without proving that he has what it takes to accomplish his goals. This is why Michael chooses to pursue Journalism in high school.
What is your big dream?
I would say my big dream is to get a financially stable job, and be able to do whatever I want at any given time, and my parents motivate me to do that.
Who do you idolize?
I don’t really idolize anyone in particular. I see traits in others that I want to see in myself, but if I had to say anyone, it would have to be Jesus Christ because he stays calm under pressure.
Why do you take Journalism?
I think that taking Journalism and finding out how to interview people and how to look at stories in a different way will really help me in the real world, because I know I’ll be interviewed eventually and I’ll need to know what it takes to get interviewed and to interview. I also think that looking at journalism through the perspective of the journalist and not from the point of the consumer is important to decide what news is good and what news is not.
How do you want to end the year?
I want to feel relieved and stress-free. The college application process, AP exams, and finals can really bog me down by the end of the year. So when I finish, I want to feel like there's no weight on my shoulders.
