17-year-old senior captain Lucas Almeida went into his last year with hall soccer not knowing that two amazing things would happen to him, the first being him breaking the 42-year-old record of most goals in a high school season held previously by Yuri Fishman, but as well as a CCC Championship, sadly Hall lost in the finals against Greenwich in the Class LL State Championship. But that didn’t mean that their season wasn’t great.

On October 29, 2022, at Conard High School Lucas Almeida put in his 95 career goal and then 8 minutes later he put in number 96. “I was happy for him, it took a lot of hard work and dedication to the games he played,” says Tyler Fairchild Fellow Senior Captain, Almeida played for some good teams before breaking the record such as Glastonbury. Which ended up in a tie and the Senior Striker did not come out with a goal, then the next game against Conard Almeida, showed up prepared and broke the record

“It feels great to break the record”, says Almeida “I know Hall has a great history in soccer being one of the best CIAC soccer teams almost every year, but to be the top scorer is unbelievable  and when I look back on my high school career I know ill have great memories that will last forever.”

Lucas’s friend and fellow Senior Captain Sam Sandler Who was another one of hall’s best players said this about the record and Lucas’s future soccer career, “I was happy for him, it took a lot of hard work and dedication to the games he played, He wants to go for hundred and I applaud him for that. When he moves up to the next level at UConn I think he can achieve more than what he has done at Hall.”

Lucas Will go on to play at UCONN in the fall of 2023 with a full scholarship playing against other D1 teams in UCONN’s division. Hall is very proud of Lucas and what he has accomplished in this memorable season.
