WHPS Remains Negligent in Weather Intermit Decisions
Braden Antarsh of Canton, CT, walks back from an NCAAM Big East game in heavy snow, late Wednesday night. Canton’s school district had a two-hour delay the next morning; WHPS had no such leniency. March 1st, 2023 outside the XL Center of Hartford, CT.
Delays, early closings, snow days: whatever the weather may be—no matter the decisions of our Connecticut counterparts—West Hartford Public Schools prove to us time and time again of their indifference to our safety. The dereliction of our new superintendent, Dr. Andrew Morrow, lies in his reluctance to take action when roads become perilous, holding education above a student’s well-being. When weather-induced traffic leads to detention via Attendance’s tardy-cap; when we spin-out on the icy roads which are so easily avertible, Hall High School’s student body is the one to suffer.
