While phone cubbies are great for keeping phones away from students during class, in our high school, they’ve become too effective at their job. Phone cubbies keep phones away from students when they’re trying to leave by causing congestion at the end of class, forcing students to form a music-less mosh pit to get their belongings before rushing to their next class. Sometimes students forget this process entirely and leave the phones in the cubbies at the end of class, incorrectly assuming that their phones are in their bag or pocket. This often leads to students going through even more stress following the realization that they may never get it back from the unusable lost and found system.
