Defying Stereotypes

These three photos represent the people of our generation hard at work. Millennials and Generation Y see our generation as lazy teenagers who only want to party. Those people also see our generation as only influenced by technology in negative ways. For example, some say our phones make us distracted very easily and we can’t multitask. These photos prove that these stereotypes aren’t true, but they show how they break those barriers.

In my first photo, the picture is trying to show a boy who is turning his back to the stereotypes put on our generation. He is turned away from everyone who is talking, typing, being distracting, so as to read his book. In the second photo, it shows a young woman listening intently in class. She is taking notes while listening to her teacher, at the same time ignoring her phone on her desk. This shows us that she isn’t influenced by her phone or technology but rather she realizes that studies and school come first. The last photo shows another young woman surrounded by other students in a library who are yapping away with their constant and noisy conversation. She blocks them out by listening to music. They are all on their separate computers, but she is just listening to music, engrossed in her work. This photo is trying to communicate to the older audiences that the influence of technology doesn’t always mean bad things, instead, it can be made to help us do good work like in this picture.

Each of these photos attempts to capture the main idea by putting it in the center of the photo, so the overall message of the capture is found right in the middle of each photo. These pictures do indeed show how Generation-Z can stand up to these stereotypes put on us by older generations.
