Fighting the Stereotype

Our generation is looked at as the iGen which just says within itself that we are extremely attached to not only our phones but technology as a whole. But in many cases we have shown that we can pull ourselves away from our devices and put energy into other things such as writing, reading, and enjoying nature.

In my first picture the young lady is writing a letter to her friend for her birthday. This is one example of Generation Z pulling themselves away from the technology to do something that is more meaningful. As you can see in the photo her phone is away from her and she isn’t paying any attention to it while she is writing the letter because it doesn’t mean anything to her at the moment. Her focus is on something else and this shows that “iGen” doesn’t always live up to the stereotype. In my second photo the young male is reading a book while his phone is face down. He is fighting the stereotype by putting down the technology to better his knowledge by reading. He had no interest in his phone because he was doing something that means more to him then being on technology. You can see the same thing in my third photo. The young man is enjoying the nice day while his phone is face down and away from him. This shows that he is able to be away from his phone to enjoy the nice day and enjoy the experience of nature.

These three example show that all stereotypes about Generation Z or the “iGen” is not correct. There are many times that we can disconnect from our technology to connect to so many more experience that are more meaningful to us.
