Older Generations Are Wrong About Gen Z

My generation, Generation Z, has grown up with technology and it has led to many stereotypes like kids don’t do anything but watch TV and play video games. Kids are addicted to their phones; and kids are constantly distracted by all the technology. I disagree with all these claims. I strongly believe that technology, such as smartphones, has improved our lives. The photos I took prove this.

Our cell phones can get us out of difficult situations and emergencies. In the first photo, the girl turns to her phone for help. It is evident that she has tried to solve the problem on her own (because the front hood of the car was open) but couldn’t figure it out. Without her phone it would have been hard to get help and she would have been stranded.

Technology also helps us with our education. In the second photo, a student is using his phone to look up a word that he’s never heard of before. In a matter of seconds, he has learned the meaning of the word and can continue work. Smartphones are a very useful tool when doing homework.

Next, our generation can be thought of as the lonely generation because kids are always on their phones instead of going out to play with other kids. Contrastingly, I believe that phones help us stay connected and socialize with our friends. An example is when something tough is going on in your life and you need to text a friend about it. Often times people will say things over text that they would never say out loud to a person. Our smartphones allow us immediate access to our friends and people we trust. My last photo shows how the use of texting and calling helps us connect and help others in need.

Generation Z has learned how valuable technology is and how to use it to make life easier. With more and more new technology on the way, older generations need to get on board with the fact that technology is the future and it will help us, not hurt us.
