Techno Trouble
These images show the complete opposite of what many adults think of our generation. Most adults say that the new generation “Gen Z” is lazy, unproductive, and obsessed with our phones; however, many of us would rather enjoy a book, enjoy writing, and even being outside than be stuck on our phones. Yes, it’s true! our phones and video games give us an instant gratification, while reading a book, and writing pushes our brains to work harder and it gives some people more pleasure than seeing a bright light that says “CONGRATULATIONS”. Some people would rather have the satisfaction from reading a book instead of playing games and staying on our phones. This generation is led to believe that the only things we do is sit down and be on our phones. That is completely unrealistic. Yes we enjoy the bright lights of our phones however, these pictures convey a message that I believe completely contradicts the stereotypes that our parents and other adults believe in. These pictures show a young lady taking the time to look for a book she is interested in, communicating with the librarian, and even smiling as she’s taking out the book. She finds a quiet place in the library and begins to read with no phone in sight. I genuinely think they should be shown to adults, across the globe because if we break these stereotypes we can come together and begin to build better relationships with our parents and teenagers wouldn’t have as much anxiety when talking to adults. I’m not denying that we spend a lot of time on our phones , but, instead, I’m saying we don’t live with our phones in our hand. We can take time to ourselves without being on social media and our phones in general.
