Does transferring from community college to state college make a difference?
If you want to save money, then you start at community college and transfer to a state college. Transferring from a community college to a four year state college is much easier in Connecticut, than you might have known.
A community college is a nonresidential junior school that provides higher education. Some examples of community colleges in Connecticut are Manchester Community College, Tunxis Community College, Connecticut Community College and Capital Community College.
Requirements to get into community college can vary implied because they are open enrollment, but it generally requires a high school diploma or a certificate of higher learning.
A state college – like University of Connecticut, Southern, Eastern, Western, and others – is a four year college that has more students than a community college, requires a high GPA for acceptance, and costs more money to attend. There are campuses to live on for the whole college year, though you are not required to stay on campus.
More specifically, University of Connecticut costs over $15,000 per year to attend and it cost over $ 12,000 to live on campus. In order to be accepted into Uconn, an applicant must have a GPA of 3.67 to be able to join. Meanwhile, Manchester Community College costs a little over $2,000 per semester and there are financial aid resources too for every state and community college. GPA or SAT is not requirement to sign up you only have to pay the tuition.
Benefits of community college are small class sizes so you won’t go adrift trying to get attention, offering flexible choices when it comes down to degrees and certificates. MCC is very elastic when it comes to planning a schedule this is better and more convenient for the student to help fit their work or home schedule. “MCC has formed partnerships with UConn and the Connecticut State Universities to ease this transfer. Articulation agreements with other colleges and universities, detailing courses and programs for transfer, are growing in number, and counselors are available to assist students in the transfer process.”
