Female rapper Cardi B has everyone shook with her stupendous success so far in 2018. The Bronx native is claimed to be one of this generation’s most successful artists due to her five Grammy nominations, her hit single Bodak Yellow reaching 6x platinum, her debut studio album Invasion of Privacy being certified gold, and several of her other songs reaching number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100. The beef between Nicki and Cardi started all the way back to March of 2017, when Minaj appeared to like an Instagram comment referring to one of Cardi’s rap verses as “dumb a** bars”. Nicki later liked a tweet stating it was fake, leading fans to assume that this could just be one of those photoshopped pictures created by someone who just wanted to stir the pot between the two artists.

But then for the next few months, there were several disses thought to be aimed at each other in certain songs and vague tweets. During an MTV interview last August, Cardi states, “If somebody got a problem I don’t really got to do that whole industry beef. Like, you know, I get it popping with these hands.” Oh, Bardi we know…

Nicki later congratulated Cardi on her record breaking achievement of hitting number one with the single Bodak Yellow; the first solo female rapper to do so in twenty years. Cardi thanked her and said it meant so much to her, which had fans confused yet excited that the beef between the two could finally be over.

But the peace didn’t last for long, as more sneak disses came up in following months, along with Nicki apparently blocking Cardi on all forms of social media. On Nicki’s radio show, Queen Radio, the topic of Cardi got brought up as she groaned, “Can we please move on? I didn’t know Cardi and I had an issue.” Are you sure you didn’t, Nicki?

Now, fast forward to the most important event of 2018: New York Fashion Week, Harper’s Bazaar’s ICONS party on September 7, Cardi just had enough of all this industry beef and decided to actually get it popping with her hands. A source explains how Cardi started walking towards Minaj yelling at her for being a “fiesty b****” and how she shouldn’t “talk s*** about her child.” Due to several bodyguards protecting Minaj and Cardi’s holding her back, she realized her best bet was to throw her shoes.

Nicki later commented, “The other night I was part of something so mortifying and so humiliating to go through in front of a bunch upper echelon people who have their life together.” She also adds how she “has never, will never speak ill on anyone’s child.” But Cardi did not feel sorry since she “let a lot slide” and constantly let her “sneak diss and lie”.

So, will the tension between the two ever settle down? Did Nicki have it coming to her or is Cardi overly confident? Senior Ali Sauer states; “I feel like Nicki was the one that was jealous in the first place, but they are both immature and are doing this for attention.” Could this really all be a publicity stunt? After all, Cardi’s phrase goes: “If a girl has beef with me, she gon have beef with me… foreva.”
