Most Important Story of 2018

 

The most perplexing phenomenon of 2018 has left people in a paradox. The Yanny/Laurel audio clip has pitted friend against friend in the greatest debate of the year.

The “Yanny/Laurel” audio clip that is supposedly made by a freshman in a Georgia high school according to NBC;has amassed a lot of attention, due to the frequency of the clip making people to either hear Yanny or Laurel. It is a computer generated voice that the viewer must decide whether it is  yanny or laurel depending on how high the frequency is.

It has even attracted the attention of scientists to determine this puzzling dispute.  Where it is considered an ambiguous stimulus that is supposed to confuse you. Even some reading university psychologists can’t determine what is happening to trick our brains

The “Yanny/Laurel” discussion has had our entire country divided and it has not been the same since. This is by far the biggest debate in the US since deciding whether to go to war with England in the 18th century, or even the infamous dress color debate of 2015.

This debate has been fueled by being all over social media and the internet.

“US citizens in the year 2018 are coming to the agonizing conclusion that we can’t even trust what we hear anymore.” Said Hall senior, Mike DiPietro.

However, some light through this struggle is that it educates people that not everybody perceives things the same way.

People have sworn by there verdict of how they have heard every individual sound. People are now even more confused than ever. People use there decision for social media bragging rights among other things. As the dispute continues to rage on, choose your word wisely as it will be your identity, until the next Internet paradox erupts.
