2016-2017 Hall Basketball Preview
Last year, Hall Basketball failed to qualify for states. However, they are bringing back a core group of players and should figure to return to the state tournament with the help of senior Daniel Brocke.
Brocke has big hopes for this season. “It is not hard to be better than last year. Hopefully we can gather some dubs early and finish the season strong,” he said. Coach Brian Moretti could not be reached for comment.
Key Losses/Additions
Hall lost one starter from last year. Danny Roth graduated and is now playing baseball at Roger Williams University. Hall also lost a player who showed promise as a freshman, Sean James, who transferred to Kingswood Oxford. All other key players are returning and are poised to improve. But, as of now, there are no new additions to the squad.
Projected lineup
- James Decresantis – Point Guard
- Tyrek Robinson – Shooting Guard
- Ricquon Tyson – Small Forward
- Michael Verrengia – Power Forward
- Daniel Brocke – Center
States
In order to make states this year’s team must win at least eight games. The schedule isn’t fully out, but Hall has some very winnable games. Achieving eight wins against their opponents should be no problem, as they don’t have the height to compete with Hall.
Hall vs Conard
Last year, Hall did not fare too well against Conard. Conard will have a strong team again, lead by returning star senior point guard Aidan Maloney. However, they still have no answer to Daniel Brocke. If Hall can successfully limit Maloney, while feeding Brocke, there is no reason why they shouldn’t be able to beat Conard this year.
