The Fight for Happiness in Sports During The Global Pandemic
The journey has been what seems like decades of sitting on a couch, watching old clips to soak up any and all moments of sports before the global pandemic that changed us all. Corona Virus splashed, and live sports dashed. A pause that was disheartening for most, and for others, it felt like a piece of the world was missing. But now, sports is back. First, it was professional sports, then college, and now, high school.
Due to the pandemic, most seasons were cancelled resulting in missed opportunities for youngsters to ball out. 17-year-olds were itching to find light at the end of the tunnel. When the all-clear was given to resume play, it was like a regenerating experience for high schoolers around the country.
In these photos we take a deep dive into the Hall Warriors boys basketball team, as they excitingly live every moment on the court like it’s their last. For some, a mask would prevent happiness on the court, and a struggle bus would occur. For Hall, it was just an obstacle. As a team, they found a way to showcase a smile through the mask. People can focus on the mask in these pictures. Others should focus on the joy in the players eyes, the freedom in the players legs, and the family in the players arms. Basketball is a family sport. And through these uncertain and challenging times, the Hall Warriors boys basketball team came together as a family and made this season a dream come true.
