Good Boys go to Hall
Kiss 95.7, one of Connecticut’s most popular radio shows, held a contest called the “High School Face-off”. This contest was to see which high school in Connecticut had the most school spirit. In order to win, a school had to beat out 63 other schools by competing in challenges like making spirit videos. Hall High School won the face-off. The prize was a concert from Daya.
Daya is an 18 year old singer from Pittsburgh with many hits on the radio. Some of her most popular songs are “Hideaway” and “Don’t Let Me Down” with The Chainsmokers. Hall was extremely excited to have the opportunity to host this star.
When Daya came to Hall on November 14th, she met with Dan Zittoun, the Principal of Hall, Emma Chozick, a writer from Hall Highlights, and Avi Ehrlich and Ryan Rocheleau, two members of the second period journalism class. They sat down and interviewed her about her life.
According to the up and coming music star, her life has completely changed since her first hit “Hide Away” dropped in April of 2015. Being so young but also a music star was tough she said. However, She “Finished high school on line last year” and “Applied to NYU, got in but deferred,” due to her amazing opportunities in the music business that she has right now.
Daya clearly loves the music business and is having a great time. When asked about what her favorite thing about being a singer was, she responded that it’s very rewarding and she gets out what she puts into it. She travels across the globe performing, and Daya said that her favorite place she has visited was Tokyo.
The energy in the school on the day of Daya’s concert was electric in nature and was something that the school hadn’t seen in a long time. Bringing Data to hall drew together all of the friend groups and cliques of the school into one united purpose and was truly awakening to students and faculty. Hopefully, the administration will hold events like this in the future to bring together the students and faculty of our school.
