Desmond Nigol Mason, Editor
Born in Hartford, Connecticut June 18th, 2002, Desmond Nigol Mason is a 17 year old senior at Hall High School. Desmond joined journalism because he thought it was more interesting than a traditional English class, and most importantly that it was a “good way to get the truth out there, [he said] we need to be informed about the world around us”. Desmond is in the Boy Scouts, and has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Desmond has an extensive family consisting of seven sisters, three brothers and their dog, a black lab, rottweiler mix.
While not juggling a busy life of family, school, and scouts Desmond finds free time to play football, basketball, and most importantly baseball. One of his biggest inspirations and role models in life has been A-Rod (Alex Rodriguez), a former player for his favorite team, The New York Yankees. “Growing up watching [Alex] dedicate himself, and then reach that kind of success was such an inspiration” and motivator for Desmond.
He was born in Hartford Hospital and used to live in New Britain, but has lived in West Hartford ever since being adopted. After graduating high school he plans to stay in the area and go to a local college in order to stay closer to family. Post college he plans to pursue his dream job as a CO in criminal justice or as a police officer in the K-9 unit.
