Grayson Rivers, Editor
Grayson Rivers, a senior attending Hall High school, is passionate about journalism and has future aspirations within the field of communications.
Q: What inspired you to pursue this class? How did you get started in journalism?
A: During my freshman year, I struggled with finding something that suited me and I could excel at, but I soon discovered Hall’s journalism club. I wrote my first article and though it wasn’t very good, from there my interest grew.
Q: Tell us more about you. What hobbies or interests do you have outside of journalism?
A: I really enjoy reading, especially books that involve fantasy and greek mythology. I’m also decent at cooking. I love experimenting in the kitchen and especially love cooking with my friends.
Q: What topics do you find yourself gravitating towards when writing?
A: Currently I’ve been focused on hyperlocal journalism, reporting on my school and community as well as things happening in town. For the moment I’ve been focused on developing my interview skills and learning the basics of journalism. I eventually hope to engage in larger societal issues and topics.
Q: Do you find yourself thinking about pursuing journalism as a career?
A: Yes, I’m particularly interested in current events and news, there are many changes happening globally and I want to be apart of those conversations, I believe storytelling creates a strong impact. I’ve been focused on print writing, but I actually toured a college recently that has a great broadcast production studio, which has opened my eyes to many new possibilities and inspired me to possibly continue down that route.
