Q: Why did you choose to take journalism?
A: I thought it was a different English class. A lot of the English classes it's the same type of writing, so I thought it would be good to have exposure to a different kind of writing that related to current events as well.
Q: What skills do you see yourself learning from journalism?
A: Definitely better communication skills. I mean, I've been working in the service industry for a while, so I know how to communicate with people on that level, but I think in an interview setting, I could work on how I ask questions and how I respond to them.
Q: How do you stay informed today?
A: I usually have the TV on a lot. I'm also on social media a lot. I would say I have like a pretty big social media presence. So I definitely see a lot on those platforms but I also try to like weed it out between, stuff that's accurate and stuff that's not.
Q: What skills do you think are essential for journalism?
A: Communication and being open minded, I think are really important because if you have a super strong opinion on something, you're not really gonna be able to find any sort of middle ground with someone else. Thats then that's not gonna make for a good story or a good representation of them.
