Angelica Violani, a senior exchange student from Italy, finds comfort and excitement in the unfamiliar as she goes through her new community and embraces her passions.
Q: What is your favorite hobby or activity outside of school?
A: My favorite hobby is sports. After school I practice track, and I also like skiing.
Q: Who is someone you look up to or admire, and why?
A: My parents and my brother. They have always done the best for me and given me a lot of opportunities.
Q: What do you hope to write about in this class?
A: I want to write about my experience as an exchange student, my point of view on this community, and the cultural differences that most impressed me.
Q: What’s a really memorable experience you’ve had?
A: Probably coming here. I left my family and my friends, my comfort zone, and I started a whole different life. It was scary, but it was worth it.
Q: What are you expecting from this class?
A: I expect to learn about the world of journalism and how to be an active participant in a community, so give information and help people get involved.
