What’s With This Dragon?!

Don’t be intimidated by this 100 foot dragon–the vibrance of the red and yellow scales symbolize the forthcoming of luck and prosperity. In 2022, a group of juniors and seniors from Hall High School brought this Chinese New Year tradition to life by hosting a parade around the school. Students learning Chinese language and culture practice how to perform a traditional dragon dance in the cafeteria and weave around rows of desks in classrooms. Furthermore, spring couplets are pasted outside of classroom doors to ward off evil spirits and welcome the new year. As seen through this celebration, new cultures and traditions unite the Hall community and make the school a more welcoming place.
