As the spring season begins, Hall High School is changing personnel in coaching roles across multiple sports. The football legacy of the Robinson family has come to a conclusion ending with a notable 40 point victory over the cross town rivals, Conard. A memorable ending to an era. This year he will pass the torch to his longtime defensive coordinator, Steve Markie.
”I’ve been coaching for 33 years,” Coach Franklin Robinson said in an interview with We-Ha.com. “It’s been a long time,” he said, when referring to the past 25 seasons. As head coach, his record is 129-118-1.
The Baseball and Lacrosse teams also have new head coaches as Officer Nick Sanford takes over for Hall baseball. A Hall alumni who has competed at the collegiate level at 2 different schools, Keith Blum, is the new coach of the Lacrosse team. The lacrosse team has had 3 different coaches in the last 4 years so there has been much change.
“While the coaching turnover has impacted the team’s development, my commitment is unwavering. I work at the school, so I plan on staying as long as they’ll have me or until I can no longer physically continue. I think I can change the culture and the perception of Hall boys lacrosse now and for years to come.” Keith Blum said to We-ha.com.
The new head coach for football is the well respected and long time coach Steve Markie, he is a teacher at Newington and is very active in the West Hartford community.
“ I have been coaching at Hall the past 21 years and I am looking forward to my expanded role within the Hall school community.” Coach Markie shared with the Hall High Staff and Administration.
Another coach who will be getting a new role in the Hall football program is Burke Martindale, Hall and Saint Lawrence football alumni is taking over the offensive coordinator job
