This year’s USA Men’s basketball team is looking to prove the United States is the powerhouse of basketball. There were two events that took place which led to this. The USA basketball team lost in the world cup and got heavily criticized for it. The second thing that took place was Noah Lyes saying the NBA championship should not be considered a World championship. “You Know what hurts me the most is that I have to watch the NBA Finals and they have “world champion” on their head.” Noah lyes said. He then added “World championship of what? The United States?”. This got the Basketball world off their feet and talking. Since then, the biggest NBA players who haven’t been particpating During the summer have all opted in. They are ready to prove the NBA is the best basketball league in the world. The final 12 man roster has been finalized and did not disappoint. “The U.S. will be favorites to win gold in Paris, and this may be the best team it sends to the Olympics since the 2012 London Olympics. The roster has size,scoring and defense – and star power.” USAToaday said in their most recent article about the team.
People have an intense sense of loyalty to the USA basketball team for the 2024 Olympics for a variety of reasons, including the team’s legacy, the rich history of the competition, and the excitement of seeing their home country go against others. First of all, the nation’s basketball team has a long and distinguished history of success, having dominated the world basketball scene for decades. Fans have been drawn to the Team because of its reputation for exhibiting some of the best basketball players in the world, and they are captivated with the idea
of seeing this heritage continue. Because of these high hopes, Americans always hold their team to higher standards; and when these standards are underachieved fans start to criticize. The Basketball Olympics are fastly approaching, and the twelve best players from the United States have been selected. These twelve players are expected to give us the best chance of bringing Gold home, like the many teams from before, such as the iconic “Dream Team”, which included stars like the GOAT Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson.
The 2024 team which will travel to Paris in the summer features, Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat), Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns), Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Anthony Davis (Los Angeles Lakers), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers), Jrue Holiday (Boston Celtics), Kawhi Leonard (L.A. Clippers) and Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics).
