The theme for the photos was feminism and women in power. I decided to focus on this theme because, I believe that this generation is truly changing the views on women in society. Women are working hard to earn an education, coming together, and yearning to make a change. The first photo shows a girl sitting up against lockers in the hallway, studying.  The dull and rusty lockers in the background make the colorful folders pop. The subject being surrounded by folders full of work symbolize the overwhelming amount of work given to students. This photo displays how the student values her education and is taking charge in getting her work done.

The second photo in the series is representative of women in power. The two girls walking through the empty hallways holding hands, displays friendship and support. Girls supporting girls is a common theme hoped to be reached by many girls in this generation. The angle at which the photo was taken gives the illusion that the girls are superior, and in a powerful position. The big smiles on the girl’s faces also show their support and happiness for each other. The reflections of the light on the shiny hallway floor provide leading lines, almost as if the girls are walking down a lit path.

The final picture shows two girls in front of computers with a stack of notebooks and folders. The girls are flexing their muscles to show that they are strong, powerful, and capable. The contrast between the dark background and the light shining on the girls highlights the girls as the spotlights of the picture. The girl in the front is also wearing a soccer uniform. This displays the further point of her being a student athlete; valuing her education, while also having a tough side out on the field.
