Is Our Technology Addiction Really Our Choice?

One of the many names for our Generation is the I Generation. The reason behind this name is that we are the first Generation to be exposed  to technology the whole time. For this reason we  have been assumed to be the most technologically savvy and also the most reliant on Technology.

Over the course of my life, I will not lie, I have become reliant on technology yes, but I have grown up this way since there never seems to be adults around to help me.

Therefore my peers and I have become dependent on its help in order to receive the  information we need to succeed. It was never our intention to get to this point but society has forced us to. Since we were the first Generation to experience technology from the start it is assumed that we know the most about it.

In the pictures that I took it is shown how we have learned to become dependent on technology.  Society thinks that we are able to complete more on our own, compared to Generations prior to us, due to our increase in resources. This assumption is wrong but there is no way for us to change the stigma around our generation. As seen in the first picture it is clear that the man sitting alone is doing his own work independently as he has the technology to do so. The group of men in the background are working together as technology is not being used. Technology takes place  of our helping peers in more instances than not. This is a harsh reality yet there is nothing we can do about it. We sometimes forget that we are evn consumed in it since it is how we have been told and trained to use it to learn. The girls at the lunch table doesn’t even notice that their friend doesn’t have a phone as it is an assumption that everyone has constant access to it.
