The Breakup of the Year
Hard to believe a relationship you aren’t even a part of could leave you this distraught. Feels as if Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande have ripped out our hearts. Grande and Davidson’s engagement ended on October 14th, 2018. The engagement came early in the relationship but the breakup seems to have been a mutual agreement between the two. This breakup has hit many people around the world, making it one of the most important stories of 2018.
Some say the engagement came too quickly but according to People Magazine in an interview on June 20, 2018 Davidson revealed it was “love at first sight for Grande.” Their relationship was very public, and everyone seemed to believe that the two loved each other dearly. Through birthdays together to getting tattoos the pair was inseparable. A source close to the couple told PEOPLE on June 11, “ They’re just two people who found love quickly and make each other happy all the time.” Grande feels the calling off of their engagement “is not shocking to anyone,” according to an interview with PEOPLE on October 14. Some may say it’s due to Grande’s Ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, who died of an apparent drug overdose a few days prior to the abrupt end of Grande and Davidson’s relationship. Some believe this was the reason for their breakup.
The breakup hit Siobhan Boyle, a senior at Hall High School, very hard. She claims she felt that “Ariana finally found the right path in life ,” and that the end of this relationship has “rocked her faith in love”. Truly a sad ending to such an amazing relationship but Grande has already come out with a break up song and is putting up a brave front, at least to the public . Pete on the other hand appears to have taken the breakup a little harder by going off social media. We hope for the best for both of them in the future but, for the public’s sake we hope no more breakups hit as hard as theirs did. Can America handle another breakup? I don’t think so.
