Behind “Pops n’ Jazz”

With these photographs I wanted to convey Pops n’ Jazz, or any musical performance in general, and highlight the amount of preparation and energy behind what the audience is seeing. It gives those who normally only observe a taste of what it is like to produce the show. There is a certain magic that is portrayed to the audience, but they only see this. They only see the final, polished product. What they don’t see is the hours of hard work behind it, and the many people involved just to get this show running. My attempt with these photos is to highlight this “behind the scene” aspect of productions like these, and shed light on the people that make it all happen. These photographs also illustrate the emotional and passion behind a concert. It is not just a performance, it is an expression of ideas – a meaningful story. These photos highlight the same stage during rehearsal, and during performance, to capture what it looks like from the musician’s eyes.
