Drew Hale Currier: a name with a celebrity-like ring to it. Coincidentally, it belongs to a local celebrity and international-level athlete. But there’s more to this profound, worldly young man.
Q: Where are you from?
A: Well, I was born in Hartford, lived in West Hartford, and currently live in Hartford/Danbury…part time man…very mobile.
Q: What motivates you?
A: I don’t like to be average, like everyone else, I want to be the best. So i’m going to work as hard as I can to be the best, if that means waking up at 4:30 and getting to work. Like i’ve said in the past, if you throw me to the wolves, i’ll come back leading the pack.
Q: If you could go anywhere in the world right now where would you go?
A: I’d probably go Spain, Italy, somewhere nice, with fantastic architecture, fantastic people, get to know the culture a little more, just get to explore and be on my own.
Q: It seems to me that you’re a man of culture. Tell me about your travels.
A: I’m very mobile. I travel a lot; I’ve been to Budapest, I leave for Cali soon. I’ve been all over the country, and soon, I hope to be all over the world.
Q: Why did you take this class?
A: Well, I think it’s important to know how to write and know how to speak to people. I think being able to have a conversation and be confident is what’s going to get you furthest in this world. I think confidence is key…without it, you’re going to shrivel up – like a grape in the sun – and become a raisen.
Q: How is journalism important to your future?
A: I can see myself continuing to write, I’ve never been one to write based on guidelines…I like to express myself and write about what I want to write about…I think journalism will help me do that.
