Hall Record

Gared Bard, Editor

Known to many of his classmates as “The kid in shorts,” Gared Bard is a 17-year-old senior at Hall High School in West Hartford, Connecticut. He was born on February 27, 2002 in Springfield, Massachusetts, and moved to West Hartford just one week later. Before arriving at Hall, Gared attended Whiting Lane Elementary School and King Philip Middle School. When asked who his role model is, he stated Dr. Nancy DePalma, the past principal of Whiting Lane, “Because she really was an inspiration throughout elementary school.”

Since his time at Whiting Lane, Gared has been heavily into gaming. He listens to the musical group Two Steps from Hell, which focuses predominantly on movie and trailer music. He is also interested in books and computer science, the latter being his favorite subject, and describes himself as “quiet and intelligent.” After high school, he plans to attend Tunxis Community College and enter the computer science field.

When asked about his motive for taking Journalism, he stated that “It seemed like the most interesting topic, after computer science of course,” and that he “wants to learn more about how the media functions.” Gared’s curiosity about reporting has led him to start seeking out local, newsworthy topics. He hopes to cover community events, in addition to the happenings at Hall, and thus feels eager to contribute meaningful content to Hall Highlights.
