One of my visits to the area I grew up in: upstate New York

This interview dives into Hannah’s values, interests, and care for others. Hannah also talks about her past accomplishments and future goals.

Q: Do you have any activities you’re involved in that are important to you?

A: I love running. I’ve been involved in running all four years, so that includes cross country, indoor, and outdoor track. I don’t care too much about how I place in a race. Running is my place to clear my head by working through whatever stressors the day has presented me with.

Q: What are some of your favorite classes? Why?

A: My favorite class is history because it relates so much to human nature and I love a good story. However,  AP Computer Science is definitely up there too. I really don’t understand much of that class, but each day I come out slightly less confused than the day before.

Q: Are there any accomplishments you’ve achieved in high school that you’re proud of?

A: I earned captainship for the cross country team, which is important to me because as much as this sport has to do with your level of fitness, I think getting through the tough runs really comes down to whether or not you believe you can do it; sometimes I think people just need someone to believe in them. Just being that person for someone would mean a lot to me.

Q: What are you looking to get out of/have already gotten out of high school?

A: I’ve come to understand how valuable the present is. I had fallen into the pattern of waiting around for challenging situations to get easier or maybe feel less scary. Somewhere along the way I realized how much time I was wasting and that I needed to just deal with it, especially when it’s hard. I also came to realize the importance of investing in yourself. I can’t say there are many things I’m sure about, but I strongly believe that establishing a healthy relationship with yourself is essential  to having a healthy relationship with anything you do.
