Q: How would you like to present yourself?

A: How I would present myself is Matt Walker. That's my name. I get my last name from my dad, my family. I definitely want to represent that. They've obviously had a huge impact on my life. I’m proud to be a Walker. Basketball has also been a huge part of me and my family.

Q: What motivates you?

A: What motivates me individually is basketball. As I said earlier, I’m a basketball player. Usually, basketball players are big and pretty tall. I'm not the biggest, or fastest guy so that motivates me. Not only in basketball but in other things too. It gives me an underdog mentality. It’s taught me it doesn't matter if you’re tall, short, fat, skinny, or anything. That motivates me with everything I do in life really.

Q: When in your life do you think you have done your best accomplishment?

A: Probably just being me. I know a lot of people that have a different personality when around different people. Who has to change who they are according to their friend groups. I’ve been able to act the same, regardless of whom I'm with. I think that's what I do best. I always pursue being myself. I take journalism to hone my responsive skills.

Q: Who have you helped? Who do you wish to help?

A: Who have I helped? I’ve helped a lot of my friends. I work out alot with my friends, so I help them with basketball. Besides that, I've gotten the chance to help my friends go through tough times in their life. Whether it's to do with their family or its another situation with their friends, I feel like they know I’m always a person they can talk to no matter what it is. I don’t try to judge, I tell them what it is, I just try to be there for them. I wish to continue helping them and my family, anybody who needs it, I’m not the type of guy who has someone do something on their own.

Q: Why do you wish to learn about journalism?

A: In cases like this. If I’m being interviewed for, say, my sports career. My Dad’s a pastor. If I’m ever asked important questions I’ve got to be able to answer questions thoroughly. Even ask questions as well.

Q: Where do you see yourself in the future career-wise?

A: What I’ve done so far with basketball I want to be able to continue that and pass on my knowledge and skills to other players to help them improve their game,  That’s what I want to do as a career.
