Olivia Pomerleau is a 17 year old senior attending William H. Hall High School. While growing up in West Hartford, Olivia watched her mom switch from profession to profession. Olivia’s favorite career that her mom had was an ultrasound technician. Also, the inspiring influence of Grey’s Anatomy enthralled Olivia. “Just watching them grow as doctors.” influenced her desire to be a physician assistant. Olivia realized her calling in her junior year as she was studying for her SAT test and looking for colleges to apply to she describes this as her biggest wake up call. This year she switched out of Women’s Literature into Journalism be more educated in subjects discussed in the news so she can engage in conversations as well as inform the public on serious medical threats, findings, and research to fulfill her social responsible.The influenza and the Swine Flu outbreak in 2009 are some examples of what Olivia finds interesting and wishes to cover in stories. This dedicated, funny, and caring lacrosse and field hockey captain envisions herself in med school in three years to make an impact in her community.
