Derek Williams, announcer extraordinaire, entered high school prepared to make new friends and persevere to reach his goals.
Q: What interests you?
A: Mainly acting along with other things. I enjoy quality time in general and I just love being around other people. I love making people smile, interacting with people, and being engaged.
Q: Who is your biggest inspiration?
A: I want to say Cameron Boyce because I want to be an actor when I grow up. But then I love my mom. Her work ethic and how she gets things done is a skill I have always wanted to have. She’s always an encouraging voice in my ear.
Q: What’s Your Favorite Part of Journalism?
A: Getting to know the world and viewpoints of people who are different from me are always such a joy for me. It makes me so engaged and ready to be amazed!
Q: What kind of music do you like?
A: I love SZA. My favorite song from her is “Prom” from her album CTRL, but I literally listen to all of her EPs (Extended Playlists) all of her released & unreleased singles, all of her features and all her albums.
Q: Any funny stories?
A: I wrote a play based off of my friend needing to use the bathroom. She kept saying that she needed to go, but after 5 minutes she would forget. I kept thinking she was up to something, so I wrote a play based off that.
