Sleeping in School

Many students wake up early to try and get to their first period class on time. The class starts at 7:30 and many struggle to be there on time. Between sports, work, and homework, students are overwhelmed and overworked. It’s difficult for them to get the recommended amount of sleep needed for teenagers. This is especially difficult for student athletes. Hockey players for example struggle to maintain a normal sleep schedule with early morning and late night practices. Their odd houred practice makes it hard to stay awake during the day, during school. Teachers expect students to be attentive in class, so some students resort to sleeping during their free period in attempts to be more awake during their next class. Yet oftentimes even the most valiant efforts fail and sleep still manages to take them during class.
