These three pictures are to represent my daily life during quarantine. The first picture of the sign at King Philip Middle School. The sign in this picture states that people are not allowed on King Philip’s property from 7:30am – 4:00pm. This represents the lack of former freedoms everyone has had in the past, and although the restrictions are there to protect the public, it’s still unfortunate that for the past month’s everyone has been shackled by powers outside their control. The second image of the piles of papers and textbooks, along with a computer and a game controller, represents what my day to day life looks like. Since it’s hard to capture what everyone’s daily life under these living conditions looks like I decided it was best to just capture my personal day. I specifically chose to keep the page open on the mental health section of my psychology textbook, with a picture of a brain clearly visible. This was to send a message about the toll on some student’s mental health, and how it may take some damage during these times of isolation. Highschool is enough of an endeavor by itself, being the best years for some and the worst for others, and the new lockdown procedures have everyone in a constant state of confusion, not knowing when wifi servers may go down, what day you have which classes, when one of you’re 20 assignments are due, and so on. The final image, is a picture of my dog, more specifically him fetching a ball I threw out. I wanted to end this on a lighter note and show how this time alone in my house has made me appreciate the daily things we take for granted. It’s true that our current situation sucks, but for some people, in this country and around the world, this is not a problem. It’s always good to keep things in perspective.
