Me waiting in line for a concert

Mary Curley, Editor

Mary Curley, avid writer, wants to have meaningful conversations through journalism. She loves art, and english classes and by combining those two she’s excited to not only write but be interviewed on certain aspects of her life.

Q: How important is journalism to society?

A: Very important. It’s important for people to know what’s going on in the world so they can make decisions about problems that affect them and others.

Q: Why did you decide to take journalism?

A: Partially because I needed the credit, but also it seemed like a different type of writing class.

Q: How do you stay up to date with current events?

A: Like lots of people our age, I get some information from social media. However, my dad will turn on the news at the night and I’ll watch it with him.

Q: What are key skills all journalists should have?

A: The ability to have discussions with people that are proficient and meaningful, and you have be able to hear other people's points of view.
