Raphael Alfonso is Hall student and passionate human rights advocate. Raph joined HallRecord at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year with the intent to write about violations of human rights around the world.
Question: What do you think the most important role of journalism is?
Answer: Well it's definitely informing the public ‘cause if the public is, you know, not informed of what's going on in the world then we can allow the government to overstep their boundaries so you could use it to keep that in check.
Question: Are there any topics that you are passionate about and hope to write about for Hall Record?
Answer: Yeah, like I would definitely say that I'm passionate about human rights violations, I want to make sure that everyone in the world can keep their rights and keep everybody safe, you know?
Question: Why did you choose journalism class?
Answer: well I mean I took this class because, one I mean, it's probably one of the most important classes you can take at Hall, you know I really think that if you want to make a change in the world that this is the class that you should be taking, so I decided to take it.
Question: what do you hope to learn in journalism?
Answer: I hope to learn how to change the world, you know like that's what you got to do and our generation has to change it for the better you know, so like we gotta do that.
