Shaina’s Spirit Wear Takes Over West Hartford Fashion Scene

Shaina Schnog poses in her own lace-up shirt.

Looking for a way to show off your school spirit? Need a unique shirt to stand out in a crowd of boring college shirts? With trendy school spirit wear and tailgate fashion on the rise, Shaina’s Spirit Wear has recently taken off in the local fashion scene.

Shaina Schnog, a senior at Hall High School, started making shirts for herself and her friends, but what was once a hobby has turned into her own small business. Shaina became inspired by some of her friends in Westchester and New York City who wore homemade shirts. She, “loves bringing trends to new places”. Using her crafting skills, she started making shirts herself, assuming it would become a trend as it is so popular in other places.

So far Shaina has sold around fifty shirts, the lace-up her most popular.  Along with the lace-up, she has a total of six styles including mesh, tie-ups and even a jean jacket. The ordering process is fairly simple; “I have people either DM me on my Instagram or I have them order through the website,” Shaina says.

Once Shaina receives the order, she purchases the base shirt from an online vendor.  Before the shirt is cut, made and shipped/delivered, an all-inclusive price she sends an all-inclusive price to the customer. The costs, personalized quotes, change depending on the size of the school and the style of the shirt. Shirts often take less than an hour to make, with a wait time of less than ten business days. The prices of her shirts differ based on the school and the shirt design.

As business began to soar, a website was in order. Brae Sullivan, a senior at Hall High School, created a website complete with a lookbook and a way to order shirts fully online. Along with joining the technological realm comes more orders, and Shaina has received orders even from out-of-state consumers. “It gets really helpful that we have a website because then there’s a lot more people,” Brae adds.

As a buyer of Shaina’s shirts as well as her manager, Brae herself wears the zip-up style shirt and a bandeau to different events. She plans on wearing her shirts to football games and tailgates, as well as parties, like Bridget Dugan, a senior and future Boston College student. While the school year comes to a close, there are many occasions to wear college shirts, and now is the perfect time to buy if you have not already.  Reviews are in, and everyone asked has had great experiences, whether it be with the ordering process or the quality of the shirt itself.

Worried that Shaina won’t have a shirt for you? Shaina’s Spirit Wear caters to all of its customers, having shirts for the smaller, less known schools. Amber Raisner, a senior, is starting at Union College in the fall, and Shaina easily created a shirt for her that she loves. Furthermore, Eve Laub, also a senior, is taking a gap year following graduation. Shaina’s Spirit Wear made the shirt that she wanted, even if it not for a college.

Even if you are not a senior, Shaina’s Spirit Wear can make shirts for your Hall pride. If you have not already jumped on board, visit her website at http://shainaspiritwear.godaddysites.com/.
