Emma Keller, a student athlete looking to pursue a career in sports medicine and management, will make an impact on her community and further her own writing ability through journalism.

Q: Who has been your biggest role model outside of your family?

A: My biggest role model has definitely been some of the teammates I've played with during sports because they really push me to be a better person on and off the field. Given that sports are such an important part of who I am, the support I get from my teammates has always made me a stronger person.

Q:What impact have you had on your community?

A: Over the years I’ve been involved with the House of Bread and Katherine’s Place. Both these places serve the hungry and homeless. This opportunity is one of my favorite ways to give back to my community, and I have met some really amazing people in the process.

Q: How do you see Journalism impacting you in the future?

A: I think Journalism will make me a stronger writer all around and hopefully give me a better insight on how to use my voice for the future. In college I am hoping to continue to write about topics that interest me that will further have an impact on my community.

Q: Last question, why did you decide to take Journalism?

A: The main reason I decided to take Journalism was because I wanted a new outlook on writing. Typically in the past there’s been strict guidelines as to what I had to write depending on the class. I am really excited that this is a class with a lot more freedom in what students can choose to write about.
