Have You Ever Heard of FAU?

Florida Atlantic University School

Florida Atlantic University Basketball has been on a significant streak of not making it into March Madness. This year though, they changed it. As they progressed throughout the season, their gameplay, and chemistry, they got an unbeatable team throughout the entirety of the Bracket. Foresee it as how 20 Years later, in 2023, Florida Atlantic University makes it to the Final Four.

Interviewing around Hall we realized that not many people knew FAU was going to go so deep into the march madness tournament. “I didn’t expect them to go as far as they have gone and seeing as they are such a low seed It lifted the majority of the pressure off of them because they weren’t expected to perform so well. But the deeper they make a run the more they think they can achieve the dream that every team sets their eyes on.” Sam M, A student at Hall created a bracket and had no idea that they were going to reach the point that they made. This shows that anything can happen in March Madness and predicting a perfect bracket is like winning the lottery.

We wanted a diverse group of individuals to ask our questions like who is FAU? Who is your favorite team? Did you think FAU was going to make it to the final four? And Do you think it is less pressure on them to go so far? Ryan Z, a hall student who has some knowledge of march madness but does not take too much interest said that “any team that is a low seed and does good has a lot less pressure on them in any sport and I think in march madness that matters even more”.

FAU is considered a large school with Division 1 Athletics around 30,000 students attend Florida Atlantic with an average tuition per year costing around $23,000. It was established in 1961 and has only made the march madness tournament twice since then. Florida Atlantic University basketball started playing basketball in the season of 1988-1999. FAU competed as an NCAA Division 2 until their 1993-1994 Season. They had moved up in the rankings to NCAA Division 1 (in the Atlantic Sun Conference) since then. After 11 seasons in that conference, they moved to the Sun Belt Conference. In July 2013, they moved to C-USA; in July 2023, they will move to the American Conference.

With ambition and motivation, many schools have pulled off great runs in March Madness

Ben looking at the March Madness Bracket with How FAU is doing

however, Not only has FAU been on the come up, They have made the final four only the second time coming into the march madness tournament which is remarkable. We have yet to see another college reach the distance that FAU has compared to any other school.
