Student Section
Students, fans, and administration are all affected by the student section and the rules in place for it. In the slide story, we ask what students are and aren’t allowed to do/say in the student section, and why there are limitations on certain things that can’t be said compared to others. We interviewed the administration at Hall as well as got quotes from outside sources. We also asked a large number of students to give us their opinion on the strictness and rules of the student section via a google form. One source said, “Don’t yell at the other team. Especially profanities. We are better than that,” --Kennedy Principal Jason Kline. This gives a common perspective from someone who experiences similar controversy on this topic. Some students make the argument that in the heat of the moment when watching an intense game, profanity and other cheers/words directed at the other team tend to slip out. Thinking about all sides of our story, we realize it is a very important topic as it directly effects the students and faculty in our school, and also determines the atmosphere of sporting events.
