Ashley has been a part of Hall Highlights since her freshman year. She is now an senior and Assistant Editor-in-Chief of HallRecord. Taking a page from her sister’s book, she decided to join because writing is something she enjoys. Not only does she enjoy it, but the process of writing for the newspaper improves her work as well. Outside of school, Ashley enjoys spending time with her family and trying new food.
Q: What do you like to do outside of school?
A: I like to play basketball, tennis, read, and write. I’ve been reading a lot of books lately.
Q: Why did you take journalism?
A: I was already writing for Hall Highlights, so I thought it would make sense to take it.
Q: How has journalism inspired who you are?
A: I like to write and be creative with my words, which is why I decided to take Creative Writing and Journalism courses this year.
Q: What did you want to be when you were younger?
A: I’ve always wanted to be a teacher.
Q: Why is journalism an important part of your life?
A: Like I said before, I like to write, and journalism helps me accomplish that. I can put my work out there for other people to read and maybe be entertained.
Q: Would you see yourself becoming a journalist?
A: Maybe in my free time when I’m not busy with my job. I hope teaching is something that I can pursue in the future, so journalism can be a side hobby of mine.
